New Delhi, November 26 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the makers of the Constitution and said that their vision will continue to take India towards the resolve of ‘Developed India’.
Constitution Day, also known as Constitution Day, is celebrated every year on 26 November and commemorates the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly, which came into force on 26 January 1950. It was officially announced to be celebrated in 2015 to honor the principles of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution.
In a post on Twitter, PM Modi said, “On Constitution Day, we pay tribute to the makers of our Constitution. Their vision and foresight continue to inspire us in our endeavor to build a developed India.”
He said, “Our Constitution gives utmost importance to human dignity, equality and freedom. While it empowers us with rights, it also reminds us of our duties as citizens, which we should always strive to fulfill. These duties are the foundation of a strong democracy.”
The Prime Minister also called upon the countrymen to reiterate their commitment to strengthen constitutional values through their actions.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also gave his best wishes on this occasion while paying tribute to the makers of the Constitution including Dr. BR Ambedkar.
“On this ‘Constitution Day’, I pay tribute to Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji as well as all the great members of the Constituent Assembly and extend my warm wishes to fellow citizens on this day,” Shah posted on Twitter.
He said, “The Constitution of India, the world’s largest democracy, provides equal opportunities, a life of dignity, national duties and rights to every citizen, thereby paving the way for strong nation building.”
Shah also acknowledged the Prime Minister’s initiative to celebrate Constitution Day and said he had “worked to make citizens more aware of democratic values”.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda took to his Twitter handle to congratulate the countrymen on the “Constitution that provides justice, truth, freedom and equality”.
He said, “Our Constitution created by Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji is the soul of India and the strength of its democracy, which not only gives equal rights to every citizen but also protects those rights and provides them the opportunity for progress.”
Nadda said, “On this sacred occasion of Constitution Day, let us resolve to uphold the dignity of the Constitution, follow its basic spirit and build a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India.”
