Actress Emily Blunt recently confirmed that she had the chance to work with Christopher Nolan on his famous Dark Knight trilogy. In a recent interview with Happy, Sad, Confused, the Oppenheimer star mentioned that she briefly met with Nolan about a potential role in the trilogy. While Blunt didn’t specify which role she was being considered for, she admitted she didn’t feel like she was right for the part. “I had only met him for a short time, but I didn’t think I had the right idea,” Blount explained.

Blunt has been linked to superhero roles in the past, playing Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and being approached by fans to star in roles like Captain Marvel and Sue Storm.

In a 2021 interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” Blunt expressed her appreciation for the passion of the characters but suggested that superhero movies might not be for her.

“It’s not like it’s beneath me,” Blount said. “I love Iron Man and I love Black Widow. I’m obsessed with Iron Man. I’d like to work with Robert Downey Jr. – that would be great… but I don’t know if superhero movies are for me. They’re not my cup of tea. Appetite. I don’t like them. I really don’t know. It’s already tiring. We’re inundated – not just with all the movies, but with endless TV shows. It’s not that I never want to play a character, it’s just that It has to be something really cool and like a really cool character, and then I’d be interested,” Comic Book reported.

As for the legendary director, there’s been a lot of speculation about Christopher Nolan’s next film career. Following Oppenheimer’s success, there have been no official announcements about his future projects.

However, Nolan hinted in an interview in late 2023 that the tone of his next film might not be quite as dark. “I definitely — part of me wants to put this story behind me,” Nolan explained.

He calls it a huge honor to be able to talk about a film that has been made. The filmmaker added that he was happy to sit down and talk about the film’s success. However, he also wanted to distance his genre from grimness.

“It’s a huge privilege. But the subject matter is very dark. It’s nihilistic. Yeah, there’s a part of me that’s very eager to move on and maybe do something that’s, you know, not so bleak,” Nolan told The Portal the website added.
