In a blow to new X users, Elon Musk announced that they may be charged for posting content on the social platform. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO said in a reply to an
“Current AI (and troll farms) can easily pass ‘are you a robot,'” Musk wrote.
He further said that the onslaught of fake accounts also exhausted the available namespace, “resulting in many good accounts being compromised.”
Unfortunately, charging a small fee for write access for new users is the only way to curb the relentless attacks of bots.

“It’s much more difficult than paying a small fee. This is only available to new users. After 3 months they will be able to perform write operations for free,” the billionaire explained.
Last October, the platform began charging $1 per year for new unverified users in New Zealand and the Philippines.
Earlier this month, the Musk-led platform announced a mass purge of spam accounts.
As social media platforms began removing bots, some X users lost followers.
The action comes as spam and porn bots have taken over the platform over the past few months, leaving users confused.
Musk announced that the system is being purged of bots and trolls.
X has not disclosed how many bots are currently on the platform.
