New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has strengthened its citizen engagement and grievance redressal mechanism by activating the National Voter Helpline and launching a new facility ‘Book-a-Call’ with BLOs – to help voters resolve election-related queries promptly and transparently, the ECI said on Wednesday.
According to the ECI, citizens can now contact through the National Contact Center (NCC) by dialing the toll-free number 1800-11-1950, which is operational from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm every day.
The calls will be handled by trained officers who will assist voters with election information, registration issues and other election-related services.
To ensure localized and timely response, the Commission has directed all states, union territories and districts to set up their own State Contact Centers (SCCs) and District Contact Centers (DCCs).
“The ECI has issued instructions to each State/UT and district to set up their own State Contact Center (SCC) and District Contact Center (DCC) respectively to ensure timely and localized response. These centers function during office hours on all working days throughout the year and assist in the regional languages of the State/UT,” the Election Commission said in its press note.
These centers will operate during office hours on working days and will provide assistance in the respective regional languages.
Additionally, all complaints and queries will be recorded and tracked through the National Grievance Service Portal (NGSP 2.0), thereby ensuring accountability and transparency in complaint management.
Additionally, ECI has also launched ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ facility using which citizens can directly contact their respective Booth Level Officer (BLO) through the facility available on the ECINET platform.
ECI has directed all Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Electoral Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to regularly monitor the requests and ensure their disposal within 48 hours.
“These facilities are in addition to the existing mechanism for resolution of election-related complaints. Citizens can also send an email to complaints@eci.gov.in,” it said.
The Commission urged all voters to make full use of these services as part of its ongoing effort to make the electoral process citizen-centric, efficient and transparent.
