Eam Jaishankar has a “productive” talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun; Pay attention to defense, business, AI

Jaishankar of External Affairs Minister (EAM) organized a “productive discussion” on Saturday with South Korean counterpart Cho Hyun on carrying on bilateral cooperation between two countries along with new opportunities in trade, manufacturing, sea, sea, semiconductor and defense.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said that he was “happy” to meet Cho Hyun this morning because India-Korea “completes a special strategic partnership 10 years.”

He further wrote, “To carry forward our bilateral cooperation for business, manufacturing, sea and people, with productive discussions -with new opportunities in AI, semiconductor, clean energy and defense -exchanges.”
The EAM said, “Exchanged the approach on India-Pacific and contemporary global development as well.”

Earlier during the meeting, Jaishankar welcomed Cho Hyun, described it as a “very special privilege” to host an old friend in a new role. Congratulating him for his recent appointment, he commented that the journey, “one day after your national day, and after our national day, we say a lot about the value we attach to the relationship,”, while also greeting on Korea’s National Liberation Day.

Highlighting the importance of the occasion, Jaishankar said that the journey marks the 10th anniversary of the special strategic partnership between India and South Korea. He said that when he met President Lee J-Mung in Canada, Canada, he held a meeting, which “had very strong relationships.”

Similarly, in his initial comments, FM Cho Hyun called it a “great joy” to visit India less than a month after assuming office. Expressing his condolences, he said, “I want to express my deep condolences for the tragic loss of life in sudden floods in Kashmir and express the hottest sympathy of the people of the Republic of Korea. It is a great pleasure for me to visit India in less than a month as Minister, Foreign Minister.”

Cho Hyun further said that President Lee J Mayung is committed to strengthening relations with India. He said, “President Li Ja Mayung is firmly committed to strengthening relations with your great country. This was emphasized during the summit in Canada, and he personally asked Prime Minister Modi to have the best relationship,” he said.

Cho Hyun arrived in New Delhi on Friday evening for his first visit. (AI)
