Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on Monday spoke to the newly appointed Foreign Minister Cho Hyun of South Korea and discussed deepening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
He greeted FM Cho Hyun for a successful tenure.
Sharing the details in a post on X, he said, “It is good to talk with Rok’s @fmchohyun this morning. Wishing me a best wishes for a successful tenure. Discussed the intensity of our bilateral cooperation.”
Earlier, on July 21, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar congratulated Cho Hyun for his appointment as the new Foreign Minister of South Korea.
In a post on X, he expressed confidence in further strengthening the relationship between the two countries and to get a special strategic partnership between New Delhi and Seoul.
He wrote, “Congratulations to Amb Cho Hyun on his appointment as the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea. It is ready to work together to further strengthen our special strategic partnership.”
On July 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a delegation of special messengers from South Korea and highlighted the completion of 10 years of India-South Korea partnership. He emphasized that close cooperation between the two countries plays an important role in the Indo-Pacific sector.
On the same day, EAM also met a delegation of special messengers of the Republic of Korea (ROK), led by former Prime Minister Kim Boy-Kuum, who was visiting India and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in major areas including economy, technology, defense, marine security and people from people.
Jaishankar shared the details of the meeting on his X account. He wrote, “This morning was happy to meet the delegation of special messengers of Rok, Li J Mayung for India under the leadership of former PM Kim Boy-Kum.
The meeting is between fresh efforts from both sides to increase cooperation in various fields, including green hydrogen, shipbuilding, semiconductor and regional security, especially in Indo-Pacific.
After this visit, a meeting was held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee J. Mayung on the occasion of the G7 Summit in Canada last month. The two leaders expressed their commitment to work together in trade, investment, green energy and emerging technology sectors. (AI)
