Dubai: Dubai residents are preparing for a remote working and learning day on Tuesday as the emirate grapples with expected weather challenges in the cosmopolitan city.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, directed all government entities and private schools in the city to observe the day as a remote working day.

This decision reflects the government’s commitment to keeping employees and citizens safe during potentially severe weather conditions.

With thunderstorms and heavy downpours expected in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), schools across the country will be closed on Tuesday and students will attend online classes from home. Government employees in other emirates are also expected to work remotely.

Residents are advised to exercise caution during the dangerous weather, with wind speeds of up to 70km/h expected until Wednesday, while motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel.

Authorities are also calling on private businesses to consider providing remote working arrangements for employees and ensuring their safety during weather fluctuations.

In addition, private schools in Dubai will conduct distance learning courses in accordance with the directives of Sheikh Hamdan.

“All Dubai government entities and private schools will work remotely on Tuesday, April 16,” the Crown Prince of Dubai said, stressing the importance of taking proactive measures to safeguard public health and safety.

Dubai authorities have confirmed they are prepared to deal with any potential impact of expected weather conditions. Take preemptive measures to monitor weather patterns and ensure public safety.
