Dozens of people were injured when a packed train was hit by a locomotive in a terrible accident western ThailandOfficials said.

Railway crews inspected the site Saturday night, removed debris from the tracks and photographed the locomotive to document the damage. He examined couplers used during locomotive swaps.

State Railways of Thailand (SRT) officials said engineers would check the mechanical systems of the locomotive, and check the correct procedures to be used during the coupling sequence.

Officials said the final injury figures may change as they continue to collect statements from crew members, injured passengers and station staff.
