Donald Trump raised $50.5 million at a fundraiser in Florida on Saturday as he prepares for his rematch with Joe Biden. AFP the report said.

The 2024 US election will be held on November 5 and is expected to be the most expensive presidential election in its history.

The Republican former president and the Democratic president have been working full-time for months, competing against each other, touting each new massive infusion of cash into their campaigns.

In March, the 81-year-old Biden hosted a lavish event in New York with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton that brought in an estimated $25 million.

Trump, 77, called Biden’s fundraising efforts “desperate,” claiming his campaign raised more than $50.5 million.

The dinner was hosted at his Palm Beach residence by billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson, who will allocate a portion of the money raised to a fundraising group earmarked for Trump’s legal expenses.

Trump and his wife Melania attended the dinner, which cost as much as $824,600 per seat, while Melania basically stayed away from the public eye.

“It was an incredible night leading up to the game because people wanted to contribute to the cause of making America great again. And that’s what happened,” he said.

“This sold-out event was the largest amount raised at a single political fundraiser in history,” Paulson said in a statement. “This overwhelming support demonstrates the growing support for President Trump and his Passion for its policies.”
