Domestic air traffic reaches record high with 4.71 lakh daily passengers

New Delhi:

Domestic air traffic reached a new single-day high of 4,71,751 passengers on Sunday, according to official data.

Traffic on Sunday was 14 per cent more than the pre-Covid average of 3,98,579.

According to Civil Aviation Ministry data, the total number of domestic air passengers on April 21 was 4,71,751 and the number of flights was 6,128.

This is higher than the domestic air traffic of 4,28,389 passengers and 5,899 flights recorded on April 21, 2023.

In a post on Twitter, the ministry said India’s domestic aviation is “at a new high every day”.

“Domestic aviation in India is witnessing unprecedented growth, driven by factors such as sound policies, economic growth and expansion of low-cost carriers. As more people gain access to air travel, the upside for the sector Expected to grow.” Said.

Last week, aviation regulator DGCA said the number of passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-March 2024 stood at 391.46 lakh, compared to 375.04 lakh during the same period last year, showing an annual growth of 4.38 per cent and monthly growth of 3.68 per cent.
