Srinagar, 16 August: In a surprising revelation, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has revealed that 91 official websites are made of non-conducting, which affect public access to important services in the central region.
In response to the Right to Information (RTI) application filed by Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance Agency (Jackga), Syed Adil-an activist from the Gynderbal district of Santral Kashmir confirmed that the websites are below as not being safe to secure the websites to host the websites.
According to the agency, the websites were taken offline as the concerned departments failed to audit mandatory security.
It further said that these audits are now running through Certificate-in Empanel agencies. “In addition, the websites already hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir State Data Center and the third party auditor, M/S Grant Thornton, are being audited by the ‘Safe to Host’ certificate,” also reads the response of the administrative officer of Jayega, which also works as its public information officer (PIO).
For a query whether any temporary or alternative arrangement was made to ensure service continuity, Jackga dodged the question, saying, “Information in this regard can be provided by the concerned departments.”
These websites have been inaccessible since the first week of May.
Speaking to the news agency, Syed Adil slammed the government’s failure to restore these websites.
“It is officially revealed that 91 websites are below, but the actual number can be around 150,” he said. “Very little follow-up from the government to restore these websites, which reflects the lack of seriousness.”
