DGGI 4.0: Top demonstration in J&K in Srinagar major areas emerges district

In an important recognition of administrative excellence, Srinagar district has emerged as the top performing districts in major areas in Jammu and Kashmir, which is under the District Good Governance Index (DGGI 4.0) for 2023-24.

The district has secured second rank in 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir with a overall score of 6.5840, and is ranked 1st in Kashmir Division.

District Srinagar has performed strong regional performance/ ranking; 1 in industry and allied sectors, 2 in public infrastructure and utilities and third in environmental management.

Recognition underlines the district’s commitment to efficient public service distribution, developmental progress and transparent regime.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, while speaking about the achievements, described it a pride moment for Srinagar district, which has been obtained through the effort of a collective team. He also congratulated the authorities for their tireless work and urged them to work with added and dedication to maintain top ranks.

Dr. Bilal commented on this success as a result of dedicated data compilation and coordinated execution in departments.

To mention that, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir today released the 4th edition of the District Good Governance Index (DGGI 4.0) for 2023-24 years. The Chief Minister has also congratulated the deputy commissioners, appreciating the continuous efforts made to strengthen the grassroots rule.

In another historical development, for the first time, the estimates of the District Domestic Product (DDP) were released by the Chief Minister, J&K and in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah emerged as a major economic driver, which ranks 2 in J&K with 14.53% contribution to the GDP for 202222-23.

While the district Srinagar has a population of 10.08% Jammu and Kashmir, and the gross district contributes 14.5% of the domestic product (GDDP) – highlights its central role in the economy.

In addition, Srinagar’s per capita income (NDDP) for 2022–23 (2nd revised estimate) was Rs 1,88,723, which is much higher than the UT average. 1,30,492.
