Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batsman Jos Buttler is the superstar of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Tuesday. Buttler’s unbeaten run helped Royals post “the biggest run chase in IPL history” by scoring 224 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Buttler battled cramps and a lack of support at the other end of the pitch at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens to score 107 runs off 60 balls to lead his team to promotion. After the match, even KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t help but congratulate Buttler for his performance. The post-match showdown between the two truly won the hearts of fans online. In a video that went viral on social media, Shah Rukh Khan asked Buttler to stay in his seat, understanding the pain the England keeper was going through during his stay in the middle. But Butler still stood up, shook hands with the Bollywood actor and hugged him. Here is the video:

After the match, Buttler admitted he was doubtful about getting Rajasthan over the line.
“Keep believing, that’s the real key today. Sometimes, it feels like I’m struggling a little bit with the rhythm. I’ve actually been watching golf and I see a guy named Max Holmes. Whenever a negative thought comes up, I Thinking the complete opposite is what keeps me going sometimes you get frustrated or you question yourself and I tell myself it’s okay just keep going and you get back into your normal rhythm and stay calm.
Buttler also has the confidence to take RR home after witnessing legends like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni doing similar work for their teams many times. The advice of Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara also helped the English a lot in this situation.
“There are many times throughout the IPL where you see crazy things happening. Guys like Dhoni and Kohli, the way they stay till the end and keep believing, you have seen that many times throughout the IPL and I have been Try Kumar Sangakkara has taught me a lot – when you’re not feeling that good, the worst thing you can do is fight it and try to force your way through it and give away your wicket. He just told me to stay there and at some point the momentum will change or you’ll find your rhythm or one shot will get you going.
“That’s been a big part of my game over the past few years – trying to stay the course and not get in my own way. (His greatest IPL innings?) I would think so. Anytime you’re not out at the end of the game. “It’s very satisfying to see your team finish, especially the last ball, in a big chase,” he concluded.
