New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS) Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Art, Culture and Languages Minister Kapil Mishra on Thursday jointly inspected Yamuna’s Vasudev Ghats, with the minister announcing that Chhath Puja celebrations will be organized at more than 1,300 ghats this year.
LG Saxena and Minister Mishra issued detailed instructions to the officials concerned to ensure that no aspect of the system remains incomplete.
Mishra said that the Delhi government is working on a war footing for preparations for ‘Chhath Puja 2025’.
The minister stressed that cleanliness, lighting, security and traffic management should be completed within the stipulated time so that devotees do not face any inconvenience.
Senior officials of Delhi Government, Municipal Corporation and other departments were present during the inspection.
Mishra said, “This year, grand Chhath Puja celebrations will be organized at more than 1,300 ghats across Delhi. The arrangements being made along the banks of Yamuna are unprecedented and on a historic scale.”
He said that for the first time such a massive event is being organized for Chhath Puja in Delhi and the preparations of the government show strong planning and dedication.
During inspection at Vasudev Ghat, Mishra said that this year’s Chhath Puja celebrations will be the most massive event ever organized in Delhi.
“Our goal is to provide a clean, safe and culturally enriching experience to devotees,” he said.
He said, “Along with the Lieutenant Governor, I inspected Vasudev Ghat today and directed all departmental officers to complete the preparations on time.”
He said, “This is not a government that just talks; it delivers. This is the first Chhath Puja under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and in this first celebration, the promise of enabling puja on the banks of the Yamuna is being fulfilled. It is a matter of pride for Delhi that devotees will now be able to perform traditional rituals on the banks of the Yamuna.”
Mishra also said that the previous government had deliberately banned Chhath Puja.
Mishra said, “Arvind Kejriwal has insulted the people of Purvanchal, but this time, the people of Purvanchal will celebrate their Chhath festival with pride and self-respect. For the last six years, Kejriwal had banned Chhath Puja on the banks of Yamuna, but not now. Now, the Delhi government stands with every devotee.”
