Delhi businessman receives box of sweets with bullets and threatening letters inside

New Delhi:

A businessman found a threatening letter and two bullets inside a sweet box outside his home in southwest Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area, police said on Saturday.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons and investigation has begun under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act, they said.

A police officer said the businessman contacted local police on Friday afternoon after receiving the box.

“After opening the candy box, he found two live cartridges containing candy and a handwritten threatening letter with some personal comments,” the officer said.

“It is suspected that the reason behind the threat is personal enmity,” the police officer said, adding that they were investigating the case from all possible angles.

Another police officer said CCTV cameras installed outside the businessman’s house were being analyzed to narrow down the suspects.

“A number of people have been rounded up and the team is looking for multiple leads,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Rohit Meena said.
