Srinagar, May 06: To assess the ongoing tuberculosis control efforts and to accept the significant progress made towards TB eradication at the ground level, a comprehensive review meeting (NTEP) was recognized at the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), which was recognized by the recognition under TB Free Panchayat. Speaking on the occasion, DC accepted the commendable efforts of the Health Department and other stakeholders, appreciating the dedication shown by the teams at various levels.
Dr. Bilal demanded a fresh commitment from all the participants to maintain speed towards TB eradication and ensure continuous cooperation and support at all levels of governance and healthcare distribution in Srinagar district.
DC further said that the achievement shows the associate efforts of the district administration, health, panchayat level employees and community health workers in combating tuberculosis at the ground level.
On this occasion, the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), a detailed and practical presentation which underlines the achievements of the district and the initiative under NTEP. Abdul was given by Roof. He informed the chair that all 21 panchayats within Srinagar district have successfully achieved the status of TB -free panchayat under the silver category for two consecutive years, marking an important public health milestone.
In addition, the chair was conveyed to the current clinical infrastructure and emphasized the important need to further strengthen it. The demand was specifically requested to consider the provision of additional NAAT (nucleic acid amplification test) machines for the district, so that to enable the rapid and more accurate TB diagnosis, the NAAT can be increased, which would facilitate timely treatment and contribute to the comprehensive target of TB elimination.
Later during the meeting, DC implicated senior health works, block development officers, zonal medical officers and other health workers to get the status of TB-free panchayats under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program (NTEP).
