Rangers boss Danny Rohr is feeling “great” after making a “statement” as his side beat Dundee 3-0 to close the gap on Premier League leaders William Hill to four points.
home captain James Tavernier Early in the second half, substitutes Danilo and Jeddy Gassama added another goal in stoppage time to seal their eighth straight win in all competitions.
Hearts drew 2-2 celtics The game at Tynecastle means Rovers move above their established rivals to sit behind Jambo as the title race heats up.
“Yes, it feels great, but hopefully in the second half of the season it will feel better and better because there is still a long way to go. We know that,” Rohr said.
“I know at Rangers the need to get a lot of wins is high, but for me it’s also eight wins in a row. It’s a statement, especially from the perspective we’re in.
“If you can keep doing this, do your homework and go for it again, then yes, the game is on. We knew before the game that it was not going to be an easy game. Everyone wants us to win.
“Then you face a smaller opponent. They are well organized and you have to break them down first. In the first half we tried but at certain times we had too many players behind the ball and not in the right areas.
“That was the talk at half-time. Then you perform well, score goals, then you have two or three good moments so you can go 2-0 or 3-0 and then in some transitional moments we are not clinical, we concede the ball and we are a bit too open.”
“But in the end, 3-0 is a statement for me too.”

Rohr is particularly pleased with the team’s attitude and efforts to keep winning.
He said: “I think that’s the good part, when I see the team in the dressing room still after 3-0, we think we want to do more and better.
“We’re not being lazy now and thinking ‘all goes well’. No, they’re still hungry.
“I think that’s what I try to live by every day in front of them, and also stay humble, and if we do that over and over again – with 15 games left, we want to be hunters, we want to hunt down the field with our pressure, we want to hunt down teams around us and be on top – then we’re going to have a lot of fun.”
Dundee boss Steven Pressley is “disappointed” with his team’s performance and is set to join the club ahead of the transfer window.
The former Rangers defender said: “I think we might need to add a few more new faces to the squad.
“Obviously we’ve had some not-so-good news on the injury front, with Clark Robertson potentially out for up to six weeks and Billy Koumetio potentially out between eight and 12 weeks.
“We’ve got two huge players ourselves. So that’s a real blow. So we’ve got to make sure we’re not short in those areas.”
