TV presenter Dan Wootton has announced he is leaving GB News to set up an independent platform, accusing media regulator Ofcom of censorship in a parting shot.

Regulators ruled on Monday that British news program “Dan Wootton Tonight” broke broadcasting rules with a segment in which actor-turned-politician Laurence Fox addressed journalist Ava Evan Ava Evans made “misogynistic” comments.

In September, Fox, the leader of the right-wing Ennahda party, asked: “Who would want to do this?” in a conversation about Evans, the political reporter for Joe Media. Ofcom received 8,867 complaints, making it the most complained-about TV incident of the year.

Both Foxx and Wootton apologized and were suspended from the channel after the broadcast. The actor was subsequently fired. On Tuesday, Wootton said: “I can today confirm that I have left GB News to launch my own independent platform www.danwoottonoutspoken.com The program will launch a new daily news and views program from later this year that will not be regulated by communist censors.

“Yet yesterday’s chilling Ofcom report clearly raises bigger questions. How can the BBC truly support free speech when state thugs have the power to decide what you say and say on air? With the passage of the First Amendment in the US How could these media not be a controlled opposition given the different freedoms they enjoy?”
