Cyber ​​crime detection and prevention: MHA forms 7 joint coordination teams covering the country

Seven Joint Cyber ​​Coordination Teams (JCCTs) have been formed to protect digital in Mewat, Jamtala, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Visakhapatnam and Guwahati territory and prevent cybercrime.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that a series of workshops were organized in 2023 at strategic locations such as Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Lucknow, Ranchi and Chandigarh. Each workshop served as a test case, building unity among different law enforcement agencies to address the ever-changing cybercrime landscape.

“The ‘Citizen Financial Cyber ​​Fraud Reporting and Management System’ under I4C has been launched for immediate reporting of financial frauds and stopping fraudsters from misappropriating funds. So far, over Rs 1,200 crore has been saved through over 4.7 lakh complaints . The toll-free helpline ‘1930’ has been launched to obtain assistance in lodging online cyber complaints,” the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

In its reply, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the National Cyber ​​Forensics Laboratory (Investigation), New Delhi, has trained investigating officers (IOs) to deal with the complexities of cyber investigations. The lab has assisted in more than 9,000 cases, ranging from mobile forensics to call data records (CDR) analysis, and has become a “bastion of justice in the digital realm.”

“So far, according to police reports, the Indian government has blocked over 3.2 lakh SIM cards and 49,000 IMEIs. 8. The ministry also said that the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform, i.e. ‘CyTrain’ portal was developed under I4C to enhance the quality of police/judicial personnel through online courses on critical aspects such as cybercrime investigation, evidence collection, prosecution etc. ability. Along with certification. More than 76,000 police personnel from states/Union Territories have registered through the portal and more than 53,000 certificates have been issued.
