CS to give solar energy to the energy sector through PM Surya Ghar Ghar Yojana

Srinagar, June 10: Chief Secretary, Atal Dullu, chaired a high level meeting to review the progress received under PM Surya Ghar: Mufal Power Plan (PMSMB) today, aims to promote solar power through roof establishments for government building constructions across the country.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD); Principal Secretary, Finance; Managing Director of JPDCL and KPDCL; Deputy Commissioners; CEO Jake; Chief Engineer of KPDCL/JPDCL and other senior officials.

Taking stock of roof solar installations in the districts, the Chief Secretary emphasized the need for time-limit implementation. He directed the discom, JPDCL and KPDCL to ensure that vendors to complete the entire installations in the shortest time.

Dullu impressed deputy commissioners to monitor the progress on the roof in its respective districts to monitor the progression and ensure that timely completion to ensure that consumers can experience minimal delays. He also reviewed the status of applications and establishments and established a district-wise and sought a strategy for fast-track execution from each DC.

To maintain quality and efficiency, he directed senior officials of JPDCL and KPDCL to visit the area to inspect the ongoing establishments. He emphasized the importance of institutional leadership by encouraging discon employees to set up an example by adopting roof solar systems.

The Chief Secretary also directed that the Common Service Center (CSC) operators are ensured in access to rural and remote houses to provide consumer registration facilities at the rural level.

Reviewing the solarization of government buildings, another important component of PMSMBY, the Chief Secretary described it as a prestigious initiative, which must be executed with great seriousness. He instructed the deputy commissioners to verify the functionality of each established roof system and submit the building-wise status report by June 30 after coordinating with Jacda for the required data.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary, Finance, Santosh D. Vaidya emphasized the need to include local contractors in the solarisation drive and registered them as vendors and encouraged their participation. He said that the pace of the plan rests on the active participation of local players, both of them from a developmental and entrepreneurial point of view in addition to timely completion.

Principal Secretary, PDD, Rajesh Prasad highlighted that the consumer response to the scheme has been heavy in recent months, with a significant increase in applications. He said that meditation should now be shifted to increase the ability of the seller and on-ground execution, for which the department is actively attaching Empanel vendors.

Providing an update on the implementation situation, MD JPDCL, Chaudhary Yasin reported that 6,121 solar roof system (SRT) with a joint capacity of 22.51 MW has already been installed in the UT. So far, 12,206 consumers under JPDCL and 8,108 under JPDCL have selected their sellers, while 802 (JPDCL) and 690 (KPDCL) consumers have also completed payment.

He said that the cumulative application load received is around 78.51 MW and 103.35 MW, which indicates strong public interest and demand.

Similarly, MD, KPDCL, Mehmood Ahmed Shah informed the meeting that the aggressive information, education and communication (IEC) campaign has been started to promote adoption. He highlighted the challenges related to the area in the valley, especially on the roofs of the steep tin and to meet the needs of vendors to purchase their content and increase manpower.

Giving a detailed observation of the Government Building Solarization component, CEO, Jake, PN Dhar, shared that a total capacity of 70 MW would be obtained through Capex mode and covering 22,494 government buildings in the UT, an additional 175 MW under RESCO mode.

Under the capex mode, 5,220 buildings (43.40 MW) have already been taken, with 3,403 and the work orders issued for buildings, along with the work orders, are expected to add another 34.39 MW to the UT’s power system. Under the resco mode, 1,500 buildings (35 MW) will be completed by NHPC and 8,000 buildings (175 MW), the meeting was reported.

The meeting confirmed the government’s commitment to green energy and urged all stakeholders to make coordinated efforts to ensure timely and high quality implementation of this transformative plan without any failure.
