He said Washington would be watching the upcoming investigation closely and “urgently seeking answers.”

The French foreign ministry said it was “unjustified that Israeli soldiers should open fire on civilians trying to obtain food”.

Colombia abandons purchase of Israeli weapons

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has condemned what he called “genocide” against the Palestinian people and suspended weapons purchases from Israel, a major supplier to Colombia’s security forces.

“More than 100 Palestinians were killed by (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu in order to demand food. This is called genocide and is reminiscent of the Holocaust,” Petro wrote on X.

“The world must stop Netanyahu.”

EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell condemned the deaths as “completely unacceptable”.

“I am horrified by the news of yet another massacre of civilians in Gaza who are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance,” he said on X.

Qatar condemns ‘heinous massacre’

Qatar’s foreign ministry “condemns in the strongest terms the heinous massacre committed by the Israeli occupation” and called on the international community to take “urgent action” to stop the fighting in Gaza.
