Ghaziabad (UP):
A couple died in a fire that broke out in their three-storey under-construction house in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad on Monday, officials said.
He told that due to short circuit, fire broke out on the ground floor, due to which some firecrackers kept in the house also caught fire.
Homeowner Irfan (57) and his wife Samar Jahan (55) sustained serious burn injuries. Police said their family members took the couple to a nearby hospital where they died.
Shalimar Garden ACP Siddharth Gautam said the firecrackers were purchased by the family for a wedding, which was to be celebrated in the coming week.
He told that the family members showed the receipt of firecrackers and the wedding card.
Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal told news agency PTI that the cause of the fire is being investigated. Irfan used to do firecracker shows in weddings.
Mr Pal said, he may have been storing firecrackers inside his house, a possibility which cannot be ruled out.
