Chennai, 2 October (IANS) K. President of Tamil Nadu Unit of Congress. Selvaparunntagai on Thursday left 41 people by Tamilga Vatri Vatri of actor Vijay.
Speaking at Udhagamandalam in Nilgiris during the Congress-led signature campaign, what the party said to “vote theft”, Selvaparunthgai attacked the BJP for the establishment of an eight-member fact-khoj committee led by Lok Sabha MP Hema Malini to investigate the tragedy of Karur.
He questioned the reliability of the move, commenting that “those who do not even know from the south to north of Karur”, and alleged that the practice was politically motivated by the purpose of helping the victims.
The state Congress chief said that the Tamil Nadu government had already formed a member Judicial Commission under the retired Justice of Madras High Court Aruna Jagadisin, which made a stampede to investigate the circumstances.
“This official inquiry is in force and will investigate whether the wrong. The BJP panel is unnecessary and is only aimed at achieving political benefits,” he said.
Selvaparuntagagai also defended the Tamil Nadu Police while combating allegations of negligence.
“Site’s videos clearly show police acting professionally and try to save life. Despite the tragedy, the force honestly replied,” he said.
He accused the BJP of trying to discredit the administration, ignoring its failures. “On one hand, the BJP is involved in vote theft; on the other hand, it is politicizing the deaths of innocent people,” he accused.
Appreciating the Chief Minister MK Stalin and his government for a rapid response to the disaster, Selvaparunntagai said: “If they (BJP) cannot accept CM’s leadership and efficient operation of the state’s tragedy, they should remain silent instead of spreading mistrust.”
He criticized the Central Government for his inaction on crises elsewhere, especially in Manipur.
He said, “Despite the continuous violence and deaths in Manipur, no fact-khoj committee was sent. But in Tamil Nadu, where the state government is working responsibly, the BJP is running to take advantage of the pain of the families,” he said.
The Congress leader was not asked to “insensitive political opportunism” to the people and confirmed the support for the people affected by the Karur tragedy.
