Congress suffers 'moral and intellectual bankruptcy': BJP not financial

BJP president Nadda said the Congress party’s bankruptcy was, in fact, “moral and intellectual, not financial”.

New Delhi:

Bharatiya Janata Party chief JP Nadda today dismissed the Congress party’s remarks about financial helplessness as “farcical” and said the party could use funds accumulated from “all the scams” that took place during its rule for electioneering .

The BJP’s reaction came after former Congress president Sonia Gandhi demanded that the party be allowed access to her bank accounts to ensure a level playing field for the Lok Sabha polls and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having Systematically weakening the party’s finances.

JP Nadda said in an article on .

“The Congress party will be completely rejected by the people, and their top leadership, fearing a historic defeat, speaks at press conferences and rants against India’s democracy and institutions,” he said.

Instead of correcting its mistakes, Congress blamed the authorities for its troubles. Nadda said that both the ITAT and the Delhi High Court asked the Congress to follow the rules and pay due taxes, but the party never did so.

“For a party that has looted at every historical moment, in every state, in every sector, it is comical to talk about financial helplessness. Congress could exploit everything from the jeep scam to the helicopter scam through Bofors Wait for the funds accumulated from all the scams to run the election campaign,” the BJP president said.

“It is a lie for the part-time leaders of the Congress to say that India is a democracy – may I humbly remind them that India was not a democracy not just for a few months between 1975 and 1977, when the Prime Minister of India was none other than Indira Gandhi,” the BJP president added.
