New Delhi, Oct 25 (IANS) In a major political development in Punjab, senior Congress leader Sardar Ranjit Singh Dhillon (Rana Gandiwind), Block Committee President and coordinator of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), and Advocate Jagmeet Dhillon Gandiwind, Punjab Congress spokesperson and President of Block Congress Committee, Gandiwind (Halka). Tarn Taran) officially joined BJP on Saturday.

The formal induction took place in the presence of BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, who welcomed both the leaders into the party. The move is a major blow to the Congress in the border district of Tarn Taran, as both the Dhillon leaders have a strong grassroots base and local influence in the area.

Welcoming him, Tarun Chugh said that his decision to join BJP reflects the growing confidence of the people of Punjab in the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that more and more leaders across the state are realizing that BJP is the only political party dedicated to development, good governance and national interest.

Chugh also took a dig at the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab and alleged that its mismanagement and policy failures have pushed the state into a deep crisis. He further said that the Congress is grappling with internal conflicts, nepotism and lack of direction, which has disillusioned many honest and hardworking leaders who are now looking for a political platform that values their service to Punjab.

Both Sardar Ranjit Singh Dhillon and Advocate Jagmeet Dhillon expressed confidence that under the strong and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Punjab will move towards a new era of stability, growth and inclusive growth. He said the BJP’s commitment to strengthening national unity and its development-oriented policies inspired him to join the party.

The development is being seen as part of the BJP’s ongoing efforts to expand its base in Punjab, especially by inducting influential regional and district level leaders from other parties.

This induction signals a gradual consolidation of political support under the BJP banner in Punjab, especially in border areas like Tarn Taran, where the party is focusing on increasing its presence. The involvement of both the respected personalities in local politics is expected to give new strength to the BJP in its mission to establish a strong foothold in the political landscape of the state.
