Congress announces 28 more candidates for assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh

Congress on Monday announced the names of 28 more candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and changed the candidates in 10 constituencies announced earlier.

The party’s Central Election Committee announced candidates for Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam North, Vijayawada East, Ongole, Cuddapah, Srisailam, Hindupur and other seats.

According to a press release issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), L Rama Rao will contest from Visakhapatnam North, S Padmashree (Vijayawada East), T Kalyal Aszal Ali Khan (Cuddapah) and R Asawardha Narayana (Dharmavaram).

The party has changed candidates in 10 constituencies. A Krishna Rao will contest from Srikakulam assembly constituency, D Srinivas (Gajapatinagaram), M Sushil Raja (Tadikonda – SC), T Nagalakshmi (Ongole), D Subba Reddy (Kanigiri), N Kiran Kumar Reddy (Kovur), PV Srikanth Reddy ( Sarvepalli), U Ramakrishna Rao (Gudur – SC), Chandanamudi Siva (Sullurpeta – SC) and Mohammed Hussain Inayatulla (Hindupur).

With today’s announcement, Congress has come up with the names of candidates for 154 constituencies.

(CPI), Congress and CPI(M) are the Indian block partners in Andhra Pradesh.

Congress has allotted eight seats each to CPI and CPI(M).

India Bloc seat sharing arrangement for 170 assembly seats has been done and candidates for five seats are yet to be announced.

Elections for the 175-member assembly seats of Andhra Pradesh are to be held on May 13 and the counting of votes is to take place on June 4.
