Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday condemned the assassination of five al -Jazira journalists in Gaza, called it a “heinous crime” and accused the Israeli state of trying to silence the truth through “violence and hatred”.
In a post on X, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote, “Five al-Jazeera journalists killing cold-oriented is still another heinous crime on the Palestinian land. It is the immense courage of those who do not dare to stand for the truth, which is never in the state of Israel.
On Monday, the National Press Club (NPC) expressed deep concern over the deaths, saying that it was “unhappy and upset” from Al Jazira’s reports that his 28-year-old reporter Anas Al-Sherif was killed, when a tent was killed for journalists outside the main gate of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza city.
Al-Sharif, a respected Arabic-language correspondent, reported a large scale from North Gaza during the current struggle. The statement said that his death is one of more than 200 journalists after the war began.
National Press Club President Mike Balsamo said, “The murder of a journalist while working to inform the public is a loss beyond a news room.”
In addition, Balasamo said, “Journalists should be able to work without target or killed. All parties in the struggle areas should respect their obligations under international law for the safety of reporters and ensure that they can take their work safely.”
The National Press Club has called for an intense and transparent examination of the circumstances around Al-Sharif and confirmed its commitment to defend the safety and freedom of journalists around the world.
It comes when Israeli forces killed five al-al-Jazeera employees, including reporters Anas al-Sherif, in a target strike on their media tent outside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, told by Al Jazeera.
Al Jazira said that her correspondent, Mohammad Kreikeh, Cameraman Ibrahim Zahar, Cameraman Momeman Aliva, and her assistant, Mohammad Naufal, were also killed in the attack. (AI)
