New Delhi, October 28 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 127th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, talked about Indian-made coffee in different parts of the country and lauded its growing appeal and popularity on the international platform.
Addressing the nation in his monthly radio broadcast, he named some of the major coffee growing regions including Koraput in Odisha, Chikmagalur, Coorg and Hassan in Karnataka, Pulani, Shevaroy, Nilgiri and Annamalai in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad, Travancore and Malabar in Kerala and lauded the efforts of coffee cultivators there in giving the country a new identity. The Prime Minister’s praise of Karnataka’s Chikmagalur, Coorg and Hassan as major coffee belts has left the coffee growers, workers and traders of the state excited and excited.

Rajendra, an estate manager at coffee farms, said, “From the misty hills of Karnataka, the aroma of coffee is now reaching the entire country, and PM Modi’s mention of it in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has brought a sense of pride and new hope to local farmers and workers.”
Coffee planter Dr MM Chengappa was elated with the praise, but also pointed out the erratic weather patterns that affect the coffee crop.
“Changing weather patterns are having an impact on the coffee sector. Heavy rains in October led to rampant weed growth, forcing us to employ additional labour. With more rains expected in December, maintenance costs will further increase.”
