Cody Fisher: Two men jailed for life for murdering footballer in Birmingham nightclub stabbing

Two men have been jailed for life after murdering a semi-professional footballer on a Birmingham nightclub dance floor.

Remy Gordon and Cammie Carpenter stabbed to death Cody Fisher There was a minor altercation two days ago, on Boxing Day 2022.

Gordon will serve at least 26 years in prison, while Carpenter will serve at least 25 years.

The 23-year-old, who played for Stratford Town and Bromsgrove Athletic Club, was stabbed in the chest at Crane nightclub in Digbeth. died on the spot from a chest wound.

He was attacked with a weapon smuggled through security in what was described as a pre-planned “act of revenge” following a minor incident at a Popworld nightclub in Solihull about 48 hours ago.

Prosecutor Michael Duck KC told the court: “It appears that Cody Fisher simply touched Remy Gordon’s back. Remy Gordon was seeking an argument with someone at the time.”

Gordon and Carpenter deny the charges against them and blame each other for the fatal stabbing and was convicted last month.

In a victim impact statement, Cody’s mother Tracy said Cody’s family’s “life sentence” began the day he was killed, which she described as “the most heartbreaking day of our lives”.

She described her son as “the bravest, fearless, most genuine soul” she had ever known.

She told Gordon and Carpenter she could “never forgive them for what they did to us.”

Ms Fisher added: “It was like my heart had been pierced as well. I saw myself go from being the happiest outgoing person to struggling through hell with every horrible, never-ending Days.” Damn it, my youngest son, my best friend, would never come home to sleep in his bedroom, and to this day I still can’t get into the room. “

Crane nightclub has been permanently closed West Midlands Police said drug use was “blatant” and security measures were “inadequate” at the venue, which posed a “terrible risk” to the public.
