Cody Fisher: Two men found guilty of murdering football player in nightclub

Two men have been found guilty of murdering a semi-professional footballer who was stabbed on a Birmingham nightclub dance floor.

Remy Gordon, 23, and Kami Carpenter, 22, were killed Cody Fisher The city’s Crown Court heard it was “horrific revenge” following a minor altercation two days earlier on Boxing Day 2022.

Jurors heard Fisher made brief, “inevitable” contact with Gordon’s back as he left a club in Solihull on Christmas Eve.

The 23-year-old, a former Birmingham City academy member from Redditch who played for Stratford Town and Bromsgrove Athletic, was killed in Digbeth on December 26, 2022. Crane was stabbed in the chest at nightclub, died on the spot from a chest wound.

The 10-week trial followed a pre-planned “act of revenge” after Mr Fisher was attacked with a weapon smuggled into the club through security.

Witnesses said Gordon and Carpenter approached Mr Fisher on the dance floor and immediately turned on him and attacked him.

Gordon and Carpenter accused each other of stabbing Mr Fisher.

Victims’ families told Sky News they were “heartbroken” over the loss of their loved onesMr Fisher’s mother Tracey described how she was sentenced to a “life sentence” on the day he died.

Then the nightclub closure After Birmingham City Council permanently revoked its business license.

Carpenter, of no fixed address, and Gordon, of Birmingham, deny charges of murder and affray.

Gordon was also found guilty of affray, while Carpenter was found not guilty of assaulting a friend of Mr Fisher’s at the Crane Hotel.

Co-accused Reegan Anderson, 19, of no fixed address, was found not guilty of murder and not guilty of manslaughter.

But he was found guilty of affray and bailed until a sentencing hearing after Easter.
