Ottawa:
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that China is one of the biggest threats regarding foreign intervention in Canada and an emerging threat in the Arctic.
In a debate on Thursday night before the 28 April election, Carney responded to “China”, when Canada’s biggest security threat was asked to be named.
On Friday, a news conference at Niagra Falls was asked to explain in detail, Carney said that Canada has to combat the dangers of Chinese foreign intervention. He criticized China for being a partner with Russia in the war with Ukraine and stated that it was especially threatened to widespread Asia and Taiwan.
Carney said that China is the biggest threat “by geo -political meaning.”
“We are taking action to address,” he said.
The Chinese Embassy in Ottawa did not immediately respond to the remarks request.
Carney’s Liberal Party is a pioneer in elections as the campaign enters its final stretch.
Canada is also closed in a trade war with its long -term colleague United States. Canada has applied retaliatory tariffs on American goods in response to American tariffs on Canadian auto, steel and aluminum, and goods that do not follow the North American free trade deal.
Carney said that Canada would not try to match the US dollar for the dollar in vengeance, but said that the entire global trade system is being re -arranged.
He said, “That level of shared values with the US is changing, so our level of engagement will change,” he said.
He said that there were opportunities for Canada to overtake the United States and China, the two largest economies in the world.
Carney said, “ASEAN, Mercosur, other parts of Europe have very big opportunities, where we can get deeper, and we need, and I think we will,” Carney said.
