Pope Francis left Rome’s annual Good Friday procession amid health concerns


Vatican City:

Pope Francis, who is still recovering from double pneumonia, did not participate in an annual procession on Friday in Colosium, Rome, with thousands of Catholic loyal for the third consecutive year.

The 88 -year -old Pontif, who is limiting his public performances on the orders of doctors, left an outdoor ceremony for Good Friday, the day Christians marked Jesus’ cross.

Crucis in Colosium, which is believed to have a place of martyrdom for early Christians, is a re -act of Jesus’ death.

Participants hold the cross of their cross, as they move in and around the ancient Roman region, stop to pray and listen to meditation.

Good Friday leads to Easter on Sunday, the most important date in the Literal Calendar of the church – remembering the day when Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead.

Francis, Pope, since 2013, died almost during his five weeks with double pneumonia. He also left the colosium event, often in the cooler spring season in 2023 and 2024.

Vatican said that Francis personally wrote attention to the ceremony this year, the second time in his 12 -year -old sinner.

The reflection begins with each abbreviated biblical reading, the small and addressed topics including the location of women in the war, economic difficulties and the Catholic Church.

The Vatican has not yet said whether Francis will participate in other Easter services in the weekend.

The Pope also left an earlier ceremony in Vatican on Thursday. American Vice President JD Vance and his family were visiting Italy for Easter, among the people present in the event.
