Raipur, October 24 (IANS) The Chhattisgarh government has ordered the transfer of seven Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, leading to a change of leadership in four sensitive districts.
The directive, issued on October 24, 2025, from the Home (Police) Department based at Mahanadi Bhawan, underlines the commitment of the Vishnu Dev Sai-led BJP administration to realign security deployment amid rising Naxal activities, industrial disputes and cyber threats.
At the core of the reshuffle are four Superintendents of Police (SP) rotation, which infuse new vigor into districts grappling with multifaceted challenges.
Ankita Sharma (IPS 2018 batch), who was earlier SP Sakti, has been appointed SP Rajnandgaon, a Naxal-prone border district bordering Maharashtra.
Sharma’s prior successes in community outreach and anti-extortion operations in coal-rich areas make him a strategic fit for the volatile border dynamics of Rajnandgaon, where recent intelligence flags have intensified Maoist attacks.
In a mutual change, Prabhull Thakur (IPS 2015 batch) stepped into the role of SP Shakti, and brought his expertise from anti-smuggling operations in Bilaspur to strengthen the security of the mining belt of the district.
Surguja sub-division, Manendragarh-Chirimi-Bharatpur, notorious for timber smuggling and tribal unrest, welcomes Ratna Singh (IPS 2017 batch) as its new SP, replacing Chandra Mohan Singh (IPS 2014 batch), who has been transferred to Civil Defense Headquarters in Raipur as well as Director, Training/Operations, Fire Services and Emergency Response.
Singh’s tenure in Dantewada’s counter-insurgency units enables him to address the ecological and enforcement issues of the region.
Completing the district cadre, Pankaj Chandra (IPS batch, not specified in the order) transferred to SP Kondagaon from Commandant of 13th Battalion, Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) in Korba, a Bastar region where Naxal ambush remains a perennial threat.
Chandra’s CAF command experience in high-mobility operations enables him to strengthen the front line in the district. The remaining three transfers strengthen the state-level machinery.
Yaduvalli Akshay Kumar (IPS 2018 batch) has been transferred from SP Kondagaon to Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Police Headquarters, Nava Raipur with increased strategic monitoring. Former Rajnandgaon SP Mohit Garg has been promoted to the post of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), PHQ, acknowledging his role in quelling the industrial unrest in Bhilai.
