With large crowds expected at the ghats for Chhath Puja on October 27 and 28, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory announcing traffic restrictions and diversions across the city.

Traffic is likely to be disrupted on roads near major Chhath ponds from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning, and commuters have been urged to avoid these stretches and opt for public transport.

In East and Northeast Delhi, large gatherings are expected at the ghats near Old Iron Bridge, Geeta Colony and DND Yamuna Khadar and Shastri Park, with each ghat likely to attract thousands of devotees. Slow movement is expected around Geeta Colony, IP Extension and Shastri Park.

Entry of commercial vehicles will be prohibited on GT Road from Shastri Park to Yudhishthir Setu (Bhajanpura) from 5-7 pm on Monday to 5-7 am on Tuesday. Some roads in Gandhi Nagar and Khajuri Khas will remain closed or see changes during the same period.

In central and north Delhi, Shyam Ghat in Jagatpur alone could attract over a lakh people, while other ghats like Shani Mandir (Jagatpur) and Vasudev Ghat (near ISBT) are also expected to see massive crowds. There is a possibility of congestion at Majnu Ka Tila, Burari, Wazirabad Road and the surrounding Yamuna stretch.

South and south-east Delhi will see large crowds at Bhola Ghat (Kalindi Kunj), where 2.5-3 lakh devotees are expected, as well as Aya Nagar, Shiv Ghat (Shri Ram Chowk) and Sangam Vihar. Traffic may move slowly on MB Road, Kalindi Kunj Road, Agra Canal Road and Road No. 13.

In north-west and outer Delhi, heavy presence will be seen in Bhalswa Lake and Majlis Park area, with changes expected around Bawana, Holambi Kalan, Narela and parts of the Outer Ring Road.

In West Delhi, gathering at Surya Upasana Park (Dabri), Vishwas Park (Raja Puri) and Mangolpuri Chhath Park may lead to delays in nearby stretches.

Police said there will be no restrictions on routes leading to major railway stations and ISBTs, although passengers should still be prepared for delays. Roadside parking is prohibited near the ferries, and vehicles must use designated spaces.

Authorities have called for patience and cooperation, while urging people to rely on the metro and other public transportation.
