Chennai scuba divers launch unique underwater voter awareness campaign

Divers dived into the sea with mock EVM machines and voting awareness placards.

Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a group of divers in Chennai conducted a unique voter awareness campaign.

Six scuba divers dived into the deep sea off Neelankarai in Chennai and performed the voting process 60 feet underwater to create awareness about voting.

The divers dived into the sea carrying mock EVM machines along with poll awareness placards from the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Placards read “I know the power of my vote” and “My country, my vote.”

One of the divers said in the video that they organized a voter awareness program to show that voting is our duty and right.

The deep dive voter awareness program was organized by SB Aravind Tharunsri, scuba diving instructor and director of Temple Adventure.

Elections for the country’s 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases, starting on April 19 and ending on June 1. Nearly 970 million voters are eligible to vote in the general election.
