ChatGPT leaks conversations with random people, and it’s a big concern

ChatGPT has been widely used, but concerns about artificial intelligence and its privacy have not gone away as multiple incidents have come to light. A popular artificial intelligence chatbot has been accused of leaking private conversations, which could have Sam Altman and company worried about its use among the public.

The details of the breach have been mentioned in this report through screenshots, where you can see the usernames and passwords of the pharmacy prescription drug website staff. The employee noted the conversations leaked by ChatGPT along with their names and even the number of the store where the person worked. The details were leaked to another user named Whiteside, who ran another query using ChatGPT.

The person noticed that extra dialogue was added to his query to the AI chatbot, which does sound scary because people want to rely on this AI technology to get responses without worrying about their privacy. That’s not all, the leaked content offers irrelevant conversations and no pattern to determine who is seeing what when using the AI chatbot.

OpenAI was informed of the incident and was quoted as saying the company was talking about a takeover of the account, which was apparently created in Sri Lanka. It noted that the leaked chats were dated in relation to logins in the region.

We’re not sure if the details OpenAI provided were enough to ignore the data breach on ChatGPT, but people would certainly feel safer if OpenAI introduced strict account privacy features such as 2-factor authentication to ensure such lapses occurred. It won’t happen in the future. Nowadays, many people use ChatGPT for personal and work purposes, so a secure channel is now needed to keep chats private.
