Carney to talk on major projects with Inuit leaders in Inuvik

Inuvik – Prime Minister Mark Carney will meet inhute leaders today, who will discuss the law of controversial major projects of his government.

Innuvik, NWT will be co-in-laws by Non Oed

ODI says Inute has several questions about Bill C -5 and is expected to give clarity to the role that meetings play in a Canadian economy.

A recently passed Canadian economy act gives Ottawa the power of rapid track projects, which must be in the national interest by ignoring environmental security and other laws.

Indigenous leaders have accused the federal government that when the law was being drafted and amended, they have been accused of failing to consult with them, and Carney has promised to interact with the first nation, Inute and Metis leaders as to how the projects can proceed.

After Carney met with the first nation leaders in Ottawa last week, some heads stated that they were abandoned with more questions than the answers and there was no clear consideration about how the government plans to implement its agenda.

In a video posted on social media on Wednesday, Swadeshi Service Minister Mandi Gul-Masti said that the meeting is a platform to discuss how to carry out the projects in a mutually beneficial manner, respecting the Inute sovereignty rights.
