Cabinet approves six railway projects worth INR 12,343 Cr

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved six projects of the Railway Ministry with an estimated cost of around Rs 12,343 crore, the government said in a statement on Thursday.

The committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approves projects to be funded by the central government.

“Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving six multi-track projects worth Rs 12,343 crore in Rajasthan, Assam, Telangana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Nagaland,” Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted on X.

The multi-track project proposal will ease operations and reduce congestion, providing much-needed infrastructure development on the busiest stretch of Indian Railways, the statement said.

“These projects are in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘New India’ to make the people of the region ‘self-reliant’ through comprehensive development of the region, enhancing their employment/self-employment capabilities,” it added .

According to the government, these 6 projects, covering 18 districts in 6 states, will add 1,020 kilometers to the existing network of Indian Railways and will provide about 30 million man-days of employment opportunities to the people of the states in the railway segment. Rajasthan Ajmer-Chanderiya and Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur; Luni-Samdari-Bhildi in Gujarat and Rajasthan; Agthori-Kamakhya in Afghanistan New rail-road bridges were built in Sam State; Lumding-Furkating in Assam and Nagaland; and Motumari-Vishnupuram and Rail-Over-Rail in Motumari in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

“These projects are an outcome of Prime Minister Gati Shakti’s National Multi-modal Connectivity Master Plan, which is realized through integrated planning and will provide seamless connectivity for the movement of people, goods and services,” the statement added.
