In response to the rising domestic tourism boom, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday said port connectivity, tourism infrastructure and facilities will be developed in our islands including Lakshadweep Facility projects.

“States will be encouraged to comprehensively develop iconic tourism centers for branding and marketing globally. A framework will be established to rate centers on the basis of quality of facilities and services. Long-term interest-free loans will be provided to states for such development Matching funds,” she added.

States will get long-term funding to fund tourism, which will attract local and the influx of foreign tourists.”
Promoting spiritual tourism and domestic tourism is India’s way of building soft power by enhancing the Indianness of the Indian diaspora across the world, he added. This is a great way to build diplomatic power in a multipolar world.
