Buckingham Palace has begun preparations for the upcoming special event.

Princess Anne has reportedly taken on the responsibility of hosting a historic garden party at the palace. The Forget-Not Garden Party has been a Buckingham Palace tradition since 1921.

Last year, the Duchess of Edinburgh hosted this unique event, which is the only annual garden party at the palace apart from events hosted by the Queen.

Not Forgotten is a charity that provides recreation, leisure and recreation to veterans and women who are disabled or injured or ill.

The eldest princess last hosted the event in 2022, alongside her husband Sir Timothy Lawrence.

The royal family has been closely associated with the charity since it was founded in 1920 to “provide comfort, cheer and entertainment to wounded veterans who remained in hospital from the First World War”.

Princess Mary was the first royal patron of the Not Forgotten Society, a position she held until her death in 1956.

In 2000, the eldest princess succeeded the Duchess of Kent as patron.

Other royals who have hosted the prestigious event include the late Queen Elizabeth, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry.

In the early years, there were usually no royals in attendance and events were less formal, with guests playing sports on the lawn.

King George V and Queen Mary allowed wounded soldiers to drink tea in the gardens and “sit and play as they pleased.”

Today, gatherings are more formal, often hosted by the royal family or a royal couple.

Princess Anne, Queen Camilla and the Duchess of Edinburgh have been increasing their royal engagements as senior members of the royal family step back due to health concerns.

The King and Kate have not engaged in any public activities as they continue to treat undisclosed cancer.
