BTS’s V talks about gaining 10kg during military training, ARMY is happy

Popular K-pop group BTS is currently on hiatus due to members’ mandatory military enlistment. Despite this, singer Kim Taehyung remains in touch with fans. BTS member V (aka Kim Taehyung) gave fans a surprise on Valentine’s Day, giving an update on his life since enlisting in the military in December 2023. V shared on his Weverse account that he gained weight during his military service, revealing that he currently weighs 72.5kg. This revelation aroused heated discussions among fans, because his weight has been a topic of concern before. His weight dropped to 63.4 kilograms in 2022, and even dropped to 62 kilograms before enlisting in the army.

Before enlisting in the army, V and his band members jokingly discussed a weight gain competition, and V set a goal of reaching 86 kilograms during his military service.

In a message translated by Moved, V dedicated himself to keeping them informed about his health while in service.

In addition to this wellness update, the 28-year-old singer recently delighted fans with a floral-themed shoot for Celine on Valentine’s Day. W Korea shared the photos on Instagram.

V is the brand ambassador of French luxury fashion brand Celine. During the photo shoot, the “Inner Child” singer posed with a variety of flowers, evoking the spirit of spring.

V joins RM with the 2nd Division of the South Korean Army, specializing in Special Forces. After completing five weeks of training, both V and RM graduated as elite trainees from the Nonsan Training Center on January 16.

Currently, all seven members of BTS are serving their compulsory military service. According to reports, Jimin and Jungkook join Jin in the 5th Infantry Division, with J-Hope as a corporal and Suga as a social worker. Jin and J-Hope are expected to retire from the military this year, and the remaining members will complete their service in 2025. V’s discharge date is tentatively scheduled for June 10, 2025. BTS plans to reunite at the end of 2025, which is highly anticipated by their fans all over the world.
