The Border Security Force (BSF) has announced to resume the formal evening retreat in all three joint check posts (JCPS) with the Punjab Frontier starting on Tuesday.
The Beating Retreat Ceremony, also known as the Flag-Lauring event at BSF’s Attari-Vaah, Hussainiwala and Sadki Joint Czech Post (JCP), which was suspended on 9 May due to Operation Sindhor, will start at 6 pm today.
The ceremony will be opened to the general public, starting from Wednesday, with a return to the normal position at these major border points.
The retreat ceremony, a popular attraction displaying India’s military discipline and cultural pride, is jointly conducted jointly by BSF and their Pakistani counterparts at border points.
In Punjab, the three major JCPs where the ceremony is held, they are Attari (Amritsar District), Hussainiwala (Ferozpur District), and Sadiqi (Faizilka District).
The incident was temporarily suspended in recent years due to security concerns and restrictions related to epidemic. It is expected to resume that they are hoping to attract a large crowd of visitors and tourists, which gather daily for reducing the flag made by the border guards of the two countries and for formal practice.
BSF officials have ensured that there are all necessary security and security arrangements to manage the expected influx of visitors.
After a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, tension between India and Pakistan increased, causing suspension of daily retreat ceremony in three major joint check posts along the international border.
However, with the gradual de-size of stress, it has now been decided to resume formal flag-lower rituals at all three places. (AI)
