Britain’s most decorated female Olympian Dame Laura Kenny retires from professional cycling

Britain’s most decorated female Olympian Laura Kenny has announced her retirement from professional cycling.

The 31-year-old announced the news on Instagram.

She wrote: “Thank you for everything cycling has given me – including my husband and our growing family!

“People say I inspire women and girls to be active and ride bikes, which means the world to me.

“Thank you to Team GB, British Cycling and all the partners who have supported my journey. A special thank you to every teammate I’ve met over the years and of course my family who have been the best support unit I could have asked for. “

Ms Laura added: “It’s time to move on but stay tuned for the next chapter.”
