Hyderabad, 3 October (IANS) A new road over bridge (Rob) was thrown openly for traffic near the historic Phalkanuma Palace in the old city of Hyderabad on Friday.
Hyderabad in -charge minister Ponam Prabhakar inaugurated Rob, which is made parallel to the current Rob.
This is expected to reduce the traffic congestion on a major stretch, which connects Charminer-Falaknuma Road to Chandrayangutta.
Hundreds of passengers are expected to benefit by reducing the 360-meter-meter-lumber Rob built for Rs 52.03 crore, and ensuring free-flowing traffic in one of the busiest areas of the old city.
This will combine Chandrayangutta with major areas, significantly improve connectivity for thousands of tourists visiting Phalkanuma Palace and Charminer.
It also comes as a relief for passengers traveling towards Phalkanuma, Engine Bauli, Shamshegunj, Alibad, Chandrayanguta and nearby areas.
It took four years for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to complete the bridge over Rob on the Secunderabad-Falaknuma Browdagauge line.
Rob’s construction saw many obstacles, resulting in a delay. It was in 2018 that the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department approved the proposal of the new parallel Rob.
GHMC Civil Work, Railway Scope Work, Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL), and an amount of Rs 52.03 crore was spent in the utilities of land acquisitions.
AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Rajya Sabha Member Anil Kumar Yadav, Mlas Mohammed Mubeen and Mir Zulfiqar Ali, Mlcs riyazul hasan Effendi and Mirza rahmat Baaig, Great Baaigi Rahmat Baigar Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan and others participated in the program.
Rob is one of the major projects made in and around the old city in recent years to reduce the traffic congestion.
It has been inaugurated at a time when preparations have been collected to provide Hyderabad Metro Rail Connectivity to the old city.
The state government has worked on a long pending metro corridor from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) to Phalkanuma.
Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) said last month that land acquisition and demolition of the affected properties in the 7.5 km old city metro corridor has reached a significant state.
