A man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender after a woman pushing a pram was stabbed to death in Bradford.

Police said the victim, 27-year-old Kulsama Akter, was attacked while walking with her children in the Westgate area of ​​Bradford city center on Saturday afternoon.

Assistant Chief Constable Damien Miller said: “Despite the best efforts of the public, ambulance crews and hospital staff, Kusuma succumbed to his injuries.

“Her child is safe and was not injured in this incident.”

Officers looking for Masum said they carried out “numerous raids” in Burnley, Oldham and Chester as part of the investigation.

They said officers also reported the incident to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), because of previous contact with the victim.

West Yorkshire Police said the suspect and Ms Ackert were known to each other.

Police search Bradford murder home

He is described as an Asian man with a slim build and was last seen wearing a duffle coat with three large horizontal lines, gray sweatpants and maroon sneakers.

A witness also told West Yorkshire Police they saw him wearing a gray hoodie with the hood up.

Police said Masum could be seen on CCTV boarding a bus in Market Street, Bradford, at 3.30pm on Saturday.

The last confirmed sighting of the suspect was at 3.42pm, when he got off the car at Killingholme Road and walked towards Bradford Moorpark.

Mr Miller added: “I believe he is still in the country at this time.”

Detective Superintendent Jude Holmes of Greater Manchester Police added in a statement that the matter had been referred to the IOPC “due to previous police engagement with Habibur Masum and Kulsama Akter”.
