Body of unidentified man found in Palghar; police register murder case

The bruised body of an unidentified man was found in Maharashtra’s Palghar district and police suspect foul play, an official said on Sunday.

Officials from the Mohada police station said a passerby discovered the body under the Vitana Bridge on the Mohada-Kasara road on Saturday afternoon and alerted the police. He said police rushed to the scene and sent the man’s body, believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, to a government hospital for an autopsy.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of crime) of the Indian Penal Code, the official said.

The case is under investigation.
