Police found the body of a seven-year-old girl in a field on Sunday, a day after she disappeared from the village, officials said, while her family claimed she was raped before being killed.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajesh Kumar Singh said that prima facie, the girl was strangled to death.

According to the NSA, around 8.30 pm on Saturday, the Kotwali Dehat police station received information that a seven-year-old girl was missing from her home in a village in the village since 12 noon.
Citing family members, Singh said the girl went out to play with friends around 12 noon. After not returning for a long time, her family reported the case to the police.
Following a missing complaint, police launched a manhunt for the girl with the help of the canine unit, the SSP said.
He said police followed dog tracks and found the girl’s body in a mustard field near the village on Sunday.
Four teams have been set up to investigate the incident, the National Security Agency said, adding that the girl’s body has been sent for autopsy.
