Body found in search of a girl missing in river temperature

Police and Coastguard officials were called to the river on Friday afternoon, after the report that two children had difficulty in water. The body of the girl was found at 11:40 am on Saturday after a search by the sea unit of Kent Police and HM Coastguard that morning.

A boy was pulled from living water on Friday before he was rushed to a local hospital, where he lives in a stable position.

Kent police said the body was formally identified by the girl’s family on Saturday. Death is not considered suspicious and a report is being prepared for a coroner.

Port of London Authority called him to the spot at 1.46 pm yesterday after a major discovery operation by police, Coastguard Services, RNLI and South East Coast Ambulance Service.

On Friday evening, the discovery of the missing girl was suspended, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said. Police said both sets of children’s parents were informed.

Kent police said: “Marine Unit and HM Coastguard of Kent Police continued to search for water and river banks this morning.

“Around 11.40 pm, a body was recovered from the river near Gravesand with the help of RNLI.
