The Toronto Blue Jays provided Canadians with a heady mix of hope, joy and pain as they came within inches of winning the World Series against the LA Dodgers.
Canada’s only MLB team couldn’t top the mighty Ohtani-led Dodgers after a heartbreaking loss in Game 7, according to Google, but they continued to dominate the country’s online searches.
The tech company released its top Canadian searches for 2025, and not surprisingly the Blue Jays are included.
The Blue Birds was the number one searched topic in the news and events category, surpassing election results, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and Justin Trudeau’s resignation, among other notable news events.
The Jays were even more influential in the top trending searches for athletes in Canada, occupying seven of the top 10 spots.
Trey Yesways took first place.

Curious minds want to know
Baseball and Jays-related questions were still hot topics when it came to the most frequently asked questions on Google.
Among them: Why do baseball players spit? What time is the Jays game today? How many innings are there in baseball?
But political questions, many of which relate to U.S. President Donald Trump, are at the center of the Canada Post strike as well, which is the top “why?” Question.

Pop culture, people and lifestyle
Bianca Sensori’s Grammy dress and collectible Labuba toys topped the pop culture search category. The budding romance between Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry also made the top 10.
Prime Minister Mark Carney was the most searched person, with Charlie Kirk topping the list of people who have died recently.
