BJP Trying To Poach Congress MLAs In Chhattisgarh, Alleges Bhupesh Baghel

Bhupesh Baghel on Monday accused the ruling BJP of trying to break his party’s MLAs in Chhattisgarh.

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday accused the ruling BJP of trying to lure his party’s MLAs to its side in Chhattisgarh by luring them with ministerial posts and tickets for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters at the Swami Vivekananda Airport, he claimed that the BJP was adopting such tactics because it feared defeat in the Lok Sabha elections to be held in April-May.

Responding to a question, Mr Baghel said, “An MLA (of Congress) recently told me in the Assembly that they (BJP) had promised him a Lok Sabha election ticket and a ministerial post if he retained power at the Centre. . Such things are going on.” “Continuously going on.” BJP leaders were not available to comment on Mr Baghel’s claim.

Recent political developments in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra clearly indicate that BJP is facing defeat in the 2024 national elections. The former CM said, therefore, it is a conspiracy to create division among other parties as it does not have the confidence to face the elections on its own strength.

Mr Baghel, who was Chhattisgarh CM from 2018 to 2023, was removed from the post after the Congress lost to the BJP in the November assembly elections.
